In a fascinating turn of events in the notorious Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukerjea's daughter, Vidhi Mukerjea, raised significant questions over the CBI’s chargesheet during her testimony on Tuesday. Before the special CBI judge J.P. Darekar, she openly declared that the statements attributed to her were entirely fraudulent and fabricated.
Vidhi Mukerjea claimed that she was coerced into signing numerous blank papers and copies of emails, which were later manipulated and presented as her statements. She asserted in court that the inclusion of false statements in the chargesheet signifies a deliberate conspiracy to falsely implicate someone in the crime. Questions also arose regarding the roles of Peter Mukerjea's son, Rahul, and Robin, suggesting possible involvement.
Additionally, Vidhi accused them of exerting pressure to falsely incriminate her mother, Indrani Mukerjea. In a shocking claim, Vidhi alleged that after her mother's arrest, their family jewelry and over 70 million rupees in bank assets were stolen, allegedly by Rahul and Robin. They even opened a new bank locker under their names.
Vidhi further stated that Rahul and Robin's financial conditions were dire, leading them to conspire against Indrani Mukerjea, thus diverting suspicion from the stolen assets. Vidhi reminded the court of Sheena Bora's initial portrayal as Indrani's sister, highlighting their close bond.
Tensions rose when Rahul and Sheena's relationship surfaced, compounded by allegations of drug use within the family. The witness revealed that she last saw Sheena Bora at a wedding in Goa in 2011, though their email correspondence extended till 2013. The prosecution claims Indrani murdered Sheena in April 2012, with assistance from her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai. The trio allegedly disposed of Sheena's body in the Raigad forest, with the truth coming to light in 2015 following Shyamvar Rai’s confession after an arrest in another case. Vidhi Mukerjea's testimony on Tuesday, however, has dramatically shifted the case narrative, as she firmly declared the statements against her mother to be fabricated.
