Heatwave Alert Issued by the Meteorological Department
Meteorological data suggests that on Saturday, Sheikhpura was the hottest district in Bihar, recording a high of 44.4 degrees Celsius, while the capital city of Patna hit 41.4 degrees Celsius. The meteorology office in Patna had already issued a heatwave and severe heatwave alert for April 28. An orange alert has been declared for the districts of Darbhanga, Aurangabad, Motihari, Banka, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Gopalganj, and Khagaria. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for April 29 in Patna as well as other areas including Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Khagaria, Gopalganj, Jamui, Banka, Motihari, Aurangabad, Darbhanga, and Sheikhpura.Starting April 29, Bihar's weather is expected to be entirely dry. Gusty winds, blowing at speeds of 11 to 21 kilometers per hour, will contribute to a powerful heatwave. As a result of the dryness, the winds will be more intense and the intense heat from the heatwave will be felt across the state. In the following days, temperatures across most districts in Bihar are anticipated to be around 44 degrees Celsius. Due to strong, warm winds coming from the south-west and north-west, severe heatwave conditions persist in Sheikhpura and heatwave conditions in Khagaria, Banka, Nawada, and Gaya.Rainfall Predicted in These DistrictsHowever, the meteorological department has expressed a possibility of light rain in Araria and Kishanganj within 24 hours due to cyclonic conditions formed over parts of Assam and southern Chhattisgarh. This cyclonic pattern could also bring light rainfall to nine districts in the Seemanchal area, including Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Madhepura, and Saharsa. This rainfall may offer some respite from the heat in these regions.
