A top-tier IPS officer from Chhattisgarh has reached out to Google to crack down on fraudulent customer service numbers displayed on their search engine. It's a notorious issue that cyber fraudsters often exploit Google ads to showcase fake customer support numbers.

Inspector General Ram Gopal Garg detailed in a correspondence to Google that criminals are impersonating officials from various institutions like banks, insurance companies, hotels, and gas agencies to deceive the public.

On Wednesday, in his dispatch, IG Ram Gopal Garg stressed that scammers typically use Google ads to ensure their counterfeit customer service numbers appear at the top of Google search results.

The IG stated that based on Google search outcomes, users tend to believe these fake numbers are legitimate, leading them to fall into the scammers' traps and inadvertently hand over sensitive and confidential information.

Highlighting the impact on society, IG Garg emphasized in his letter the importance of taking necessary measures to safeguard citizens from such deceptions. He also called upon the public to join the 'Cyber Praharis' campaign, raising awareness against the surge in online fraud.
