Careful Crafting in Seat Allocation Reflects Caste Equations
It's worth noting that both Meerut and Bijnor are general seats, where the Samajwadi Party has focused on the PDA partnership. Taking caste equations into consideration, one seat has been reserved for TMC, meanwhile, five of the six seats have featured Dalit candidates. This includes seats in Meerut, Bijnor, Nagina, Hathras, and Lalganj. For Aligarh, the party has trusted a Jat candidate. Manoj Kumar has been handed a ticket from Nagina putting an end to speculation regarding the ticket allocation to Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar. The Bhadohi seat has been left for TMC with Lalitesh Pati Tripathi being a strong contender.
First List Featured 16 Prospective Candidates
The Samajwadi Party's initial candidate list featured 16 names, including high-profile politicians like Dimple Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav, and Akshay Yadav. This list was released amidst ongoing meetings of the INDIA coalition. The first list consisted of 11 OBC, one Muslim, one Dalit, one Thakur, one Tandon, and one Khatri candidate—reflecting a diverse range from 4 Kurmi, 3 Yadav, 2 Shakya, 1 Nishad, and 1 Pal community. For Ayodhya's Lok Sabha (general seat), the party chose a Dalit Pasi candidate. In Etah and Farrukhabad, candidates from Shakya community replaced the traditionally chosen Yadav candidates.
Second List Gave Tickets to These Candidates
In its second roll-out, the Samajwadi Party announced 11 more candidates. This included Harendra Malik for Muzaffarnagar, Afzal Ansari, the brother of Mukhtar Ansari for Ghazipur. Other significant allocations were Rajesh Kashyap for Shahjahanpur, Usha Verma for Hardoi, Rampal Rajvanshi for Mishrikh Lok Sabha seat, RK Chaudhary for Mohanlalganj, SP Singh Baghel for Pratapgarh, Ramesh Gautam for Bahraich, Shreya Verma for Gonda, Virendra Singh for Chandauli, and Neeraj Maurya for Aonla Lok Sabha seat.
