The fans have eagerly awaited the return of Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The duo, fondly known as ROKO, last graced the field during the victorious 2025 Champions Trophy. Their much-anticipated return might occur during the upcoming Australia tour.

Former opener and chief selector of India, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, confidently asserts that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are indispensable for India's ODI team. Yet, for maintaining their form, he suggests they should engage in domestic cricket too. Since the conclusion of IPL 2025, both have stayed away from the pitch, but now they are fully focused on preparing for the Australian tour. Speculations about their retirement have been rife, suggesting this could be their farewell series. However, such rumors have now been firmly dismissed.

Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma candidly critiques the neighboring country.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a veteran of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, shared on his YouTube channel, 'Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are superstars. In my opinion, they are automatic choices for the Australia tour. If I were the selection committee's chairman, I would appoint Rohit Sharma as the captain for the ODIs against Australia. It's preposterous to spread rumors about their future. They absolutely deserve to continue playing.'

Srikkanth suggests Chief Selector's discussion: Both have likely been in talks with Ajit Agarkar, and advised to partake in domestic cricket.

Srikkanth is of the belief that Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar has likely discussed with the players, advising them to participate in domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy to regain match practice and form. This tactical approach benefits both the players and the team.

Srikkanth also emphasized that both players are eyeing the 2027 ODI World Cup triumph, leading them to affirm their readiness. Virat Kohli, a player of immense contribution to India, deserves a respected position and continued opportunities.

'Virat is preparing in England while Rohit is training at the NCA,' said Srikkanth. They are poised to assist in steering India to victory in the 2027 World Cup, necessitating that they be given opportunities. Scheduled between October 19 and 25, the India-Australia ODI series promises high-stakes excitement. The team announcement is anticipated soon.
