Former Indian captain and two-time T20 World Cup champion, Rohit Sharma, has been named the tournament ambassador for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

This eagerly anticipated event will unfold across India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026. The tournament will kick off on February 7, with the grand finale slated for March 8. The epic India-Pakistan clash is set for February 15.

Rohit Sharma led Team India to triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup, finishing his career with 4231 T20 International runs. His batting average stood at 32.01, with a strike rate of 140.89.

A vital part of India's two World Cup victories, Rohit's debut T20 World Cup in 2007 was phenomenal; he scored an unbeaten 88 against South Africa, along with 50* during a crucial match, and 30* in the final against Pakistan.

Among his memorable innings were a 92 (41) against Australia and a 57 (39) against England. Post victory, Rohit announced his retirement from T20I cricket.

On being appointed ambassador, Rohit remarked, "It's wonderful to have this tournament back in India. Engaging with it in a new role is an honor for me. Best wishes to all players; I hope they relish India's hospitality and take away unforgettable moments."
