Understanding Rishabh Pant's Exit from Delhi Capitals:
Rishabh Pant has broken his silence regarding his separation from the Delhi Capitals. In a forthright post, he asserted that finances had no part in his decision to leave the IPL team. Pant responded to a Star Sports video where Sunil Gavaskar discussed the rationale behind Delhi's decision not to retain their captain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In the video, Sunil Gavaskar suggested there might be a disagreement between Delhi Capitals and Pant over the wicketkeeper-batsman's retention fee. He also added that the Capitals would attempt to reacquire Pant during the mega auction scheduled for November 25 and 26.
In response to this discussion, Pant reflected on the video from Saudi Arabia's Jeddah, ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, firmly stating that his decision to part ways with the Delhi Capitals was not driven by money. He shared his reaction to Gavaskar's video.
Having been a cornerstone of the Delhi Capitals lineup, Pant's post highlighted: 'I can assuredly say that my retention decision wasn’t about the money. 🤍'
Watch Gavaskar's Video Analysis:
Ahead of the IPL mega auction, Delhi Capitals had already retained four players. Axar Patel was retained for ₹16.5 crores, Kuldeep Yadav for ₹13.5 crores, South African all-rounder Tristan Stubbs for ₹10 crores, and uncapped wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel for ₹4 crores.
