The tragic case of the young doctor Bhavana Yadav from Anantpura village in Kotputli-Behror district, Rajasthan, has sent shockwaves through her community. Bhavana suffered severe burns in Hisar, Haryana, and despite receiving treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur, she succumbed to her injuries. The Jaipur police filed a Zero FIR, forwarding it to the Hisar police for investigation. The police discovered a petrol bottle and other evidence in the room of a young man named Udesh Yadav, a clerk at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), who had admitted Bhavana to the hospital. Udesh has since absconded, and his phone remains switched off.
According to the family, Bhavana often traveled to Delhi for exams, as she was taking online classes there. Following regular calls with her family, they noted she was in good health leading up to the events of April 21. Yet, on April 24, a young man's call turned their lives upside down—Bhavana had suffered gruesome burns. Reaching the hospital, her family found her critically injured and alone, prompting a decision to transfer her to Jaipur's SMS Hospital for better care, where she ultimately passed away. Her distraught mother informed the police, demanding justice.
Her mother recounted observing deep wounds on Bhavana's abdomen during a hospital dressing, raising suspicions of an attack with a sharp weapon. A Zero FIR was filed, and the case was forwarded to the Hisar civil line police via post. The incident has elicited waves of grief in the community, with family and locals demanding a thorough investigation and swift action against the perpetrators. The family remains engulfed in sorrow.
As part of the investigation, police are scrutinizing Bhavana's phone records and questioning her acquaintances. Preliminary findings revealed signs of assault prior to the tragic incident. Upon investigation of HAU, authorities found petrol containers and related material in Udesh's room, who has been untraceable with his phone turned off. The crime scene has been sealed, and evidence collection is ongoing with the aid of fingerprint specialists. Three dedicated teams have been established to advance the investigation.
The Superintendent of Police in Hisar, Shashank Kumar Sawan, noted the receipt of the Zero FIR on Monday, prompting immediate registration and investigation. A police team inspected the hospital, examining her call details among other pertinent records. Her family's statements have been documented as the detailed probe continues.
IPS Tejaswini Gautam stated that post-mortem and Zero FIR registrations were completed before forwarding the report to Hisar. Bhavana had been admitted to SMS Hospital, Jaipur, by her mother, where she tragically expired during treatment.
Three teams are actively pursuing the investigation, under the direct supervision of the district police superintendent. Despite attempts to apprehend Udesh Yadav, the young man who admitted Bhavana to the hospital, he remains at large. The family accuses him of suspicious behavior and levies severe accusations against him. Police have highlighted that Udesh, employed as a clerk at HAU, is married.
Hisar DSP Tarun Sharma reported that following notification, the incident site at HAU was inspected. Authorities recovered a petrol bottle and additional evidence from Udesh's room. Udesh remains absconding, with his phone being inactive.
