Determined to shape India's political future, Congress and the Samajwadi Party, allies within the India Alliance, convened a press conference on a pivotal Thursday in Ghaziabad, UP. Here, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP President Akhilesh Yadav launched a biting critique of the BJP. When questioned about his unexpected candidacy from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi quipped tersely, dismissing the query as reminiscent of BJP rhetoric.
Rahul Gandhi expressed readiness to confront questions he deemed propelled by BJP's agenda, assertively noting, 'I'm always prepared to respond.' Prodded about why their press conference wasn't held in Delhi, where even the PM's designation is being contested but instead in Ghaziabad, and why Gandhi himself has migrated from UP (Amethi) to Wayanad, he instantly interjected, labeling it 'A BJP-conjured question.'
When Rahul Lambasted a Reporter?
A reporter dared ask if Gandhi would contest the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi or Rae Bareli, to which he responded with a sly dig, 'That's a BJP-tinted question. Kudos to you.' He confirmed his commitment to adhere to the party's decision, emphasizing that candidate selections are solemnly undertaken by the Congress Working Committee.
India Block's Rising Influence
Contemplating party positions and electoral prospects, Rahul Gandhi remarked, 'I don’t forecast seat counts. A fortnight ago, I surmised BJP might secure roughly 180 seats, but now it appears they'll be confined to 150. Reports state that the India Block's political strength is burgeoning. Our coalition in Uttar Pradesh is robust, promising exceptional performance.'
Gandhi critiqued PM Modi's recent interview with ANI, casting it as a scripted flop that failed to clarify the controversial electoral bonds scheme. 'This is the grandest heist in the world's history, an understanding that India's business community is very much aware of,' he declared, implying that no explanation from the Prime Minister can quell the arising concerns.
Rahul Gandhi reinforced that the election represents a clash of ideologies, with RSS and BJP on one side attempting to dismantle the constitution and democratic fabric, while the India Block and Congress are striving to defend them. Key issues include rampant unemployment and rising inflation, which he accuses the BJP of deliberately deflecting attention from.
'NDA's downfall from Ghazipur to Ghaziabad'
Akhilesh Yadav enunciated that their press conference in Ghaziabad signified the waning mention of the NDA, forecasting a defeat spanning from Ghazipur to Ghaziabad. 'UP greets well, and it shall bid farewell just as grandly. The India Alliance is a harbinger of hope, set to eliminate poverty. Our manifesto envisions eradication of poverty through guaranteed MSP promises,' he asserted. He pointed to electoral bonds as illustrations of NDA's failures, branding BJP as a sanctuary for corruption.
Together in Ghaziabad
Akhilesh Yadav wished everyone well on the occasion of Ram Navami, delighted by holding the press conference in Ghaziabad, alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. 'This time, the India Block will uproot BJP from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur. Our farmers are in distress, deceived by BJP's unfulfilled promises,' he concluded.
