Congress leader Rahul Gandhi submitted his nomination papers for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Wayanad seat in Kerala on Wednesday. According to the affidavit provided during his nomination, he has cash in hand amounting to Rs 55,000. In the fiscal year 2022-23, Rahul Gandhi's total income was Rs 1,02,78,680.

Significant investments in the stock market

Rahul Gandhi's affidavit discloses a deposit of Rs 26.25 lakh in his name at the bank. His total investment in the stock market is Rs 4.33 crore, with an additional Rs 3.81 crore in mutual funds. He also has invested Rs 15.2 lakh in Sovereign Gold Bonds, and his possession of jewelry is valued at Rs 4.2 lakh.

Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi's deposits in NSS, Postal Savings, and insurance policies approximate Rs 61.52 lakh.

Rahul Gandhi's total movable assets are valued at Rs 9,24,59,264, while his immovable assets total approximately Rs 11,14,02,598. This amounts to a grand total of Rs 20,38,61,862 in net worth. It should be noted that Rahul Gandhi has liabilities of about Rs 49,79,184. Interestingly, when he first contested elections in 2004, his net worth was Rs 55 lakh.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi declared net assets approximately worth Rs 15 crore, with an outstanding loan of Rs 72 lakh. Over the last five years, his wealth has increased by nearly Rs 5 crore.

It is noteworthy that Gandhi is contesting from the Wayanad seat for the second time. In 2019, he won by a significant margin. Ahead of his nomination, he conducted a roadshow in Wayanad, accompanied by his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.

Gandhi assured the electorate that representing them as their MP is an honor for him. Contesting against Gandhi in the Wayanad seat is Annie Raja from the CPI, part of the I.N.D.I.A coalition.
