Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma struck back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding his jail comment. Himanta remarked that Gandhi came to Assam just to say this, forgetting that he himself is on bail for several offenses across the nation. In another statement, Himanta said, 'He has already lost the elections; why should I waste my time on him? Sarma noted he's lost relevance now.'
What Did Rahul Gandhi Say?
Earlier, in a meeting in Assam's Chaygaon, Rahul Gandhi hit out at Himanta, stating, 'Today I declare that soon the media will show your Chief Minister going to jail, and not even Narendra Modi, Amit Shah will be able to save him. This action won't be the party's but that of Assam's youth, farmers, workers, every class, because they know this person is corrupt.'

Rahul Gandhi claimed, 'This person is stealing Assam's land around the clock, sometimes in the name of solar parks, sometimes as resort excuses, and every child in Assam knows this. What is happening in Assam is happening all over the country. The Chief Minister here thinks of himself as a king.'
'A Nationwide Ideological Battle'
The Congress leader remarked, 'He (Himanta) knows that one day Congress's brave lions will put him in jail. He will have to answer to Assam's people for his corruption. You people are the lions and lionesses of the Congress Party. Lions and lionesses fear no one. You have Congress's ideology in your DNA.'

He then highlighted that the nation is embroiled in an ideological struggle today. On one hand, there's the RSS ideology of hate and violence. On the other, Congress promotes truth and non-violence, connecting everyone. Rahul concluded, 'What I speak comes true. The aftermath of what I said during COVID, demonetization, flawed GST is evident to all.'
Raising Questions on Voter List Review
Targeting BJP, Rahul Gandhi said, 'Maharashtra's election was robbed by BJP and the Election Commission. The same effort is underway in Bihar by crafting new voter lists, erasing millions, notably the poor, workers, farmers, and Congress-RJD voters. We're protesting against this in Bihar, building pressure on them.'
Rahul said, 'To Congress party members and voters here, I say, what they did in Maharashtra, and what they are attempting in Bihar, they will try in Assam as well, but we will not let it happen.'
