Addressing a public assembly in Amethi's Gauriganj, Minister Smriti Irani critiqued the opposition for their pride in previously rejecting the Ram Temple's consecration invitation, only now to visit the sanctuary before stepping into Amethi, seeking blessings from Lord Ram solely during election season. Irani provocatively noted that their political affairs seem to recall the deity solely during the election period, underscoring the votive nature of their piety.
Irani further argued that an individual who deceives the gods can hardly be of use to humans, hence the saying, 'He who isn't sincere in worship cannot be of help to us.' She also pointed out that even Iqbal Ansari, a party to the Babri case, showed grandeur of heart by attending the temple's consecration, a gesture not mirrored by the Congress.
