Gurugram police told a news agency on Saturday that former state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav did not have her own academy and used to book tennis courts at different locations to train players, which her father objected to.

On Thursday, in her two-story home located in Sushant Lok area of Sector 57, Gurugram, 25-year-old Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead at close range by her father, Deepak Yadav (49). Earlier, police stated that Radhika ran a tennis academy, which had become a cause of dispute between them as Deepak was often taunted for relying on his daughter's income. However, the accused, who was financially well-off and earned good rental income from various properties, was not dependent on his daughter's earnings. Frustrated with the taunts, he had been depressed for the past few weeks.

A police investigator revealed on Saturday, "Radhika did not have her own academy. She would book tennis courts at different places to train new players. Deepak had asked her several times to stop the training sessions, but she refused, which was the main source of conflict between the father and daughter."
During the remand, police recovered five bullets and one live cartridge from his Sector 57 residence. Deepak was also taken to a village in Pataudi as part of the investigation. A close relative mentioned that Deepak had supported Radhika's tennis career since childhood. He had asked his daughter several times to stop the training, but she had refused.
