In UP's Budaun, police encountered Sajid, the accused of murdering two children, within three hours. With Sajid's death, the mystery deepened as to why he killed the children. However, claims made by police about Sajid's encounter are under scrutiny.
According to the FIR, it was the crowd that had caught Sajid and handed him over to the police. Taking advantage of the darkness and confusion, Sajid escaped. Later, when the police team faced him, he fired shots, and in the retaliatory action, he died. But the grieving family and neighbors assert that they had handed Sajid over to the police themselves. Besides, several questions are being raised about the encounter. Due to these questions, the District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry and asked for a report within 15 days.
'After killing both brothers, he was catching me too,' said a child who narrowly escaped Sajid's hands in the Budaun tragedy.
Questions being raised on police
1- On Tuesday evening, when Sajid arrived at Sangeeta's house, did he have a revolver along with the knife? The police claim that Sajid had fired at the team, which led to his death in a counterresponse.
2- The family of the victims says that after the murder of the children, they had locked him inside the house and when the police came, they handed him over to the police. So how did he escape from police custody?
3- When the family handed over Sajid to the police, had the police not searched him that he started firing at the police in the jungles of Sheikhpura?
4- At the time Sajid was handed over to the police and when the encounter happened, where did the revolver come from during this time? If he had gone to Sangeeta's house with the revolver to kill the children, then when the police caught Sajid from the house, why was the revolver not recovered from him?
'My wife is sick, please give 5000 rupees,' Sajid asked the mother of the children for help before the double murder in Budaun.
What did the children's grandmother say?
The grandmother of the deceased children, Munni Devi said, "I saw Sajid standing with a blood-stained knife. Then I closed the gate from outside. Until the police team arrived and caught him. When he was sitting with the police team, I hit him with slippers 3-4 times. Police took him away. During this time, Sajid and Javed were both present. Sajid was on top, Javed was down."
In addition, the children's father Vinod Singh and their neighbors also say that after executing the incident, Sajid did not escape; he was standing inside the house with a knife. They said the door was closed when the police arrived, then opened and then the police took him away.
Neither sick nor pregnant... Sajid lied about his wife, so did he plan the children's murder with full intent?
What did Budaun's SSP say about the encounter?
The SSP of Budaun reported that Sajid had taken advantage of the crowd and darkness to escape. The crowd tried to catch him on the way, but he managed to escape. Upon receiving information, the police team managed the situation and deployed teams behind Sajid. About an hour or two later, he was seen in the jungles of Sheikhpura; when the police tried to stop him, he fired at the police party. In return firing, he died.
