The political storm over the Delhi Chief Minister's residence has begun. After Delhi's current CM Atishi's belongings were moved to the bungalow previously occupied by Kejriwal, PWD sealed it with a double lock.
It's alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has not yet handed over this bungalow to PWD as per the rules, and before that, the present Chief Minister Atishi's belongings reached the place, despite it being PWD's property. When a government residence is vacated, PWD takes charge, creates an inventory, and only after that is the house allocated to someone else.
A video emerged on social media during the bungalow vacating process, showing Sunita Kejriwal handing over the keys to an officer. The video claimed that Arvind Kejriwal vacated the Chief Minister's residence, but on October 6, a PWD officer wrote a letter to Delhi CM's Special Secretary stating that the keys were taken back shortly after handing them over and the bungalow wasn’t fully handed to PWD.
It should be noted that the bungalow's keys vacated by Kejriwal were to be handed to a PWD officer, but in the video, Sunita Kejriwal is seen handing them over to Delhi CM's Special Secretary Parvesh Ranjan Jha, not a PWD official.
According to LG House sources, the house where Arvind Kejriwal stayed isn’t the official 'Chief Minister's Residence', and PWD owns it. The right to allocate the bungalow rests with them, while a vigilance inquiry into the bungalow's construction is ongoing. The bungalow wasn’t allotted to Chief Minister Atishi, so how did her belongings arrive there? She already has a residence at 17 AB Mathura Road. How can she be allocated two houses under such circumstances?
According to sources, PWD has sealed the bungalow and Delhi’s vigilance department has issued show-cause notices to two section officers and the Delhi CM’s Special Secretary.
LG House sources stated that the bungalow's inventory will be prepared first and only after that will it be allocated. Before that PWD will investigate, conduct a survey, and list belongings.
Earlier, BJP alleged that Arvind Kejriwal didn’t vacate the Chief Minister's residence and only released a video for drama. Moreover, AAP alleges that BJP wants to take over this bungalow and on LG’s orders, CM Atishi's belongings were removed.
