The police in Punjab have achieved a significant success. The Amritsar State Special Operation Cell recovered six kilograms of heroin and 67 cartridges during a raid in Jafarpur village, Gurdaspur.
According to news agency reports, DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that during the raid, the police also seized two magazines and six mobile phones. The police reported receiving credible intel about the involvement of an individual from Jafarpur village in drug and arms trafficking.
Drugs captured during the raid
The police said the suspect had recently received a shipment of heroin and weapons via drone from the India-Pakistan border near Batala district.
The smuggler was planning to hand over the goods to another person. Acting swiftly on this information, police teams raided Jafarpur village. During the raid, the suspect managed to escape, abandoning his bag. The police teams confiscated the illicit material from the bag. DGP Yadav mentioned that they have identified the suspect and are conducting further raids to capture him.
The officer indicated that they are pursuing backward and forward linkages to identify other associates involved in the trafficking of drugs, weapons, and ammunition.
