In his Sunday evening address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a roadmap for building a new, self-reliant, and empowered India. Emphasizing economic reforms, the indigenous campaign, and the role of citizens, his address carried a profound message focusing on self-reliance awareness, civic responsibility, and societal dedication.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the benefits of new reforms in the GST (Goods and Services Tax). Dubbed the 'GST Savings Festival,' these next-generation GST changes, starting Monday, will introduce two tax slabs which will make goods and services more affordable, bringing significant relief to the poor and middle class.
He noted that over the past year, due to GST and income tax exemptions, citizens have saved approximately 2.5 trillion rupees, fueling both consumer confidence and demand in the market.
Appealing for the purchase of indigenous goods, PM Modi stated, 'We should only buy the items imbued with the sweat and hard work of India. Proudly proclaim, I buy swadeshi, I sell swadeshi.'
He also urged state governments to promote indigenous production and investment to fortify the self-reliant India initiative.
Civic Duty: Citizens as Nation’s Deities
Reiterating Mahatma Gandhi's 'Civic Duty: Citizens are the Nation's Deities,' the Prime Minister noted that tax reforms and government aid have helped 250 million people rise above the poverty line over the last 11 years. Now, the neo-middle class plays a significant role in the country's progress. Government policies are giving wings to the dreams of the poor, farmers, women, and the middle class.

Collaborative Efforts for National Growth
On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the Prime Minister appealed to every Indian to adopt indigenous practices and contribute to the country's progress. He believes that only through joint efforts of the center, states, farmers, traders, youth, and citizens can India truly become self-reliant and prosperous.
