People wonder how someone who seemed so sensible and lived a solitary life could do such a thing. But the police investigation, her confession, and the sequence of events point towards a story no one could have ever imagined.
This is the tale of 32-year-old Poonam. A graduate with a Master's degree and B.Ed, smart, calm, and reserved, slowly turned into a psycho killer. There is no indication as to when this hatred was born or how it grew. Her family claims she was completely normal, never showing any signs of mental illness. Neighbors describe her as reserved, educated, and sensible. But beneath this silence, a sinister cocktail of depression, violent jealousy, and dangerous obsession was festering.
Poonam got married in 2019. In 2021, her son was born and named Shubham. The entire family was happy. However, this happiness was short-lived. Her husband runs a washing service center. There were disputes with her in-laws. On January 13, 2023, when her sister-in-law Pinky visited, her 11-year-old daughter Ishika was there. The house was abuzz with activity, filled with children's laughter. No one knew how long Poonam had been watching that girl, the strange anxiety building within her. The moment she found herself alone with Ishika, she drowned her in a water tank.

To cover up the murder, she even killed her own three-year-old son, Shubham. Losing a child is every mother's worst nightmare, but here, a mother deliberately lost her child, just to keep her first crime hidden. The family trusted her story. Who would suspect a mother could kill her own child?
Both incidents were initially brushed off as accidents. But now the police investigation has clarified these were no accidents. Shubham was Poonam's own son. She admitted to police that she killed him to avoid suspicion from her family. This revelation left the investigation officers dumbfounded.

Then came August 18, 2025. Poonam was visiting her parental home in Sivah. In the night's silence, a little girl was asleep. Poonam woke her, took her towards the animal shed, and drowned her in the water. When her uncle got suspicious, the mother denied the accusations, unwittingly covering up another child's death.
And then December 1, 2025… the day that revealed the entire truth. Vidh, just six years old, was the center of the family’s attention as they were busy with a wedding. Amidst the celebration, Poonam led her to the storage room. A tub was filled with water. She mercilessly drowned the child, and it was over within moments. But this time, her story was about to break open. Police became suspicious, opened an investigation, and slowly, all the buried secrets began to surface. Each incident, each child, each clue… everything was exposed.
Poonam's sister-in-law, who lost her daughter Vidh to Poonam, is now caring for Poonam’s two-year-old child, feeding him milk. One mother took away another's daughter, yet the latter resides in her benevolence, caring for the former's son. The venomous hatred in one mother, and the nurturing affection in another.
What did Poonam's Mother Say?
On the other side, Poonam's mother, Sunita Devi, constantly insists her daughter was perfectly normal before marriage. If there were any illness, we would have sought treatment. She never harmed any child before. I don’t comprehend what changed after marriage; she seemed like a different person. Poonam's brother-in-law Sandeep mentioned that at times, she spoke as if possessed by someone else. Once, she even hurled hot tea at Vidh’s face. According to the Panipat police, Poonam exhibits psychopathic tendencies, harboring bizarre resentment towards beautiful children.
What did Poonam's Husband Naveen say?
Speaking to the media in Bavr, Naveen recounted their 2019 marriage. She seemed sensible, with no visible issues. If she did all of this, she deserves punishment equivalent to what she inflicted upon those children. Vidh’s grandfather Pal Singh said that it now makes sense… she once attempted to spill hot tea on Vidh. At the time, it seemed accidental. But this wasn’t a mistake.
Vidh's grandfather recounted that Vidh’s mother is now caring for Poonam's two-year-old child, despite losing her daughter. Residents of both Naultha and Sivah villages remarked that she was educated, self-contained, and kept to herself. Discussing the case, SP Bhupendra Singh mentioned that she exhibits psychopathic tendencies. The investigation into the entire affair is ongoing.
