The General Assembly elections may have wrapped up, but today marks the start of a pivotal two-day national executive meeting for the Janata Dal United (JD(U)) in Delhi, led by Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar.
Nitish to Lead in 2025 Legislative Elections
A significant decision has emerged from this gathering. Senior party leader KC Tyagi announced that the 2025 Bihar elections will be contested under the guidance of Nitish Kumar, a stance affirmed by prominent BJP leaders as well.
Responding to BJP leader Ashwini Choubey's statement on contesting elections under the BJP's leadership, Tyagi emphasized the party's disregard for the remarks of lesser-known BJP figures, stating their allegiance lies with the words of the Prime Minister, and there is no confusion about leadership in Bihar.
Sanjay Jha May Become the Executive President
The meeting also anticipates a discussion on appointing an executive president, with Nitish Kumar's trusted ally, Sanjay Jha, leading the potential candidates. Additionally, deliberations regarding the campaign to grant Bihar 'special state' status are expected.
JD(U) to Contest in Jharkhand Assembly Elections
A crucial decision related to JD(U)'s participation in the 2024 Jharkhand elections has been taken. The party is prepping to introduce strong contenders and is gearing up for a robust fight.
Party resolutions related to organization discussed maintaining communication between ministers at the central and state levels and the cadre. Techniques are being developed to disseminate information about ministerial events to workers at the booth level and strengthen the party's grassroots foundation.
Central Minister Lalan Singh has also arrived to participate in the meeting. Speaking about the conference, JD(U)'s national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan stated that it's a routine meeting focusing on electoral strategies, responsiveness to the peoples' will, and outlining roles for the leaders. He also highlighted that the demand for 'special state' status is tied to the state's identity and key to Bihar's development, regardless of whether they are part of the NDA coalition or not.
