Mayawati has removed her nephew Akash Anand from his positions as Bahujan Samaj Party's national coordinator and her successor. The BSP supremo retracted her decision on Tuesday mid-election, previously announced in December last year. She stated that until Akash Anand reaches full maturity, he will be distanced from these significant responsibilities.

Questions arise: what prompted this major shuffle within the BSP during the elections? When Akash Anand stepped onto the political stage, especially in Uttar Pradesh, he was met with attention. Crowds gathered to hear him speak, and there was a sense that BSP was reclaiming its true movement. However, some of Akash Anand's statements severely tarnished the party's image.

Controversial Statements by Akash Anand

Not long ago, he termed the BJP government in Sitapur as a 'government of terror,' resulting in an FIR filed against him. Moreover, he occasionally got so impassioned during his speeches that expletives slipped out. The aggressive tone of his statements was widely criticized, including remarks about 'feeling like throwing shoes.'

'Misfit' in Mayawati's Politics

It's believed that these statements vexed Mayawati. Akash Anand's language was a 'misfit' within the kind of politics that Mayawati has historically conducted. A significant faction within the party was also reportedly displeased with his rhetoric.

In the aforementioned interview with Aaj Tak, Akash Anand discussed his role in the party, acknowledging that many had been given chances yet failed to prosper. He admitted that if he could not make an impact, he too could be replaced.

Lost Composure in Front of Crowds

Akash Anand was introduced to BSP as a fresh, educated youth who could transform the party. Initially, he spoke with composure, but he lost his temper on several occasions before the public. It's speculated that this could be the crucial reason behind the retraction of his posts as heir apparent and national coordinator.

What Mayawati Said

Mayawati took to social platform X to share her decision, writing, 'It is known that BSP is not just a party; it is also a movement for the self-respect, dignity, and social change heralded by Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, to which Kanshi Ram Ji and I have dedicated our lives, and we are preparing the new generation to continue this legacy.'

She explained, 'As part of this succession, along with promoting others within the party, Akash Anand was declared national coordinator and my successor. However, for the broader benefit of the party and the movement, until he attains full maturity, we're detaching him from these critical responsibilities.'
