As the fourth phase of the general elections unfolds, voting begins for 96 seats nationwide. Amidst the campaign frenzy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares exclusive insights with Today's reporter Himanshu Mishra. PM Modi outlines a clear vision, seeing the 'majority beyond 400' morph from slogan to reality.
On the contentious debate surrounding surgical strikes, PM Modi asserts Congress has harboured animosity towards the military post the 1962 war. He remarks, 'Much has been said about the surgical strikes. Understand the Congress mindset: they refer to our Army Chief as a 'street thug', undermining the military during their term as they will.'
The deep-rooted disdain for the military
PM Modi further adds, 'There's something in the back of their minds, stemming from the humiliation of the 1962 conflict and the stain of failure on Nehru, which etched the belief that the army was to blame for tarnishing his reputation. Since then, their resentment towards the army persists.'
Discussing the family politics overshadowing the Army's reputation, PM Modi says, 'One must read Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw's book to understand this. The frustration is evident. Burdened by the defeat under Nehru's leadership during the war with China in '62, they continuously seek to insult the army.'
They are intent on confining Ramlala to a tent, claims PM
Responding to opposition questions about the Ram Temple, PM Modi comments, 'Following the advisor's statement, who served the family for over 30 years, it's evident their mindset was to overturn the Ram Temple verdict, just as they did with the Shah Bano case. They are adamant about relegating Ramlala back to a tent, prepared to go to any lengths for their vote bank politics.'
Prime Minister's take: 'Construction is never their motive, only destruction. Hence, they are in a destructive mindset.'
The opposition's plans for reservation based on religion crossed
On accusations levelled by the opposition, PM Modi argues, 'The claim that BJP will alter the constitution if victorious is preposterous. This family has betrayed the constitution most. Both the Constituent Assembly and the Constitution have clarified that reservations cannot be granted on religious grounds. Yet they, like pickpockets, are keen on providing reservation based on religion, hence the noise.'
