The partition of India in 1947 was not merely a division of land but a separation of hearts. Countless people lost their homes, family, and identity. Blood-stained rail tracks, trains filled with lifeless bodies, and tear-soaked, grieving faces became some of the most haunting images in human history. To remember this pain and to warn future generations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared August 14th as 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day'.

The aim of 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' is to remember that the flames of hatred lead only to destruction, and we must protect our unity, love, and humanity at all costs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in a social media post, "As we recall the upheaval and pain experienced by countless people during a tragic chapter of our history, India observes 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day'. It's also a day to honor their resilience. It's about recognizing their incredible strength to restart life after facing unimaginable losses."

He further stated that many affected by this tragedy rebuilt their lives and achieved great feats. This day also reminds us of our ever-lasting responsibility to strengthen the bonds of harmony that weave our nation together.

Valuable Lessons Learned...

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar stated, "Partition inflicted deep pain, and its far-reaching human and strategic implications were felt. On 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day', we remember the resilience of those who endured this harrowing tragedy. Many lessons can be learned from this painful chapter."

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri wrote in a social media post, "On 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day', I pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in the widespread violence and brutal massacres that followed this ill-considered partition, including the miraculous survivors, among them my parents."

The Union Minister further added that those who were forced to start anew in India as helpless partition refugees will ensure that the horror of the partition is remembered by future generations.
