Parliament's budget session enters its third day, with the leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi, joining the discussion on the President’s address. He remarked, 'Make in India was an idea. The Prime Minister tried, but he failed.'
While speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi criticized the President's address. He expressed that it merely listed the government's achievements and emphasized that it should focus on the youth, who will shape the country's future.
'PM Tried but Was Unsuccessful'
Questioning the 'Make in India' initiative, Rahul Gandhi stated, 'The Prime Minister introduced the Make in India program. I believe it was a promising idea. However, despite efforts, success eluded him.'
He highlighted that manufacturing is at a record low in six decades, illustrating with a phone that although tagged as 'Made in India,' its components are imported from China and assembled locally. He pointed out the increased focus on consumption and growing inequality. As the world transitions from petroleum to battery and nuclear energy, he noted past technological revolutions witnessed by India and its current implications, recalling the skepticism during the computer revolution's inception.
Rahul Gandhi on AI and Data
Rahul expressed respect for former leaders and stated, 'In the midst of the war in Ukraine, we see advancements in electric motors and engines,' referencing AI discussions and the reliance on data. He questioned the data AI employs, highlighting India’s lack of proprietary data, which forces dependency on Chinese or American data.
The budget session's third day continues. Following Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi will address the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The session commenced memorably on Monday.
As Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took his seat, the opposition demanded discussion over the deaths at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela. He urged for proceeding with the Question Hour and reminded that the incident was covered in the President’s address, allowing for discussion during the thanksgiving proposal.
