Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir Promoted to Field Marshal:
Celebrations erupt in Pakistan despite acts against India. Shehbaz's government successfully deceives the public through misleading perceptions of victory. Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army obliterated multiple Pakistani terrorist bases. However, in a paradoxical move, Pakistan responded by promoting its Army Chief, Asim Munir.
On Tuesday, the Pakistan Cabinet made a significant decision, granting approval for General Asim Munir's elevation to Field Marshal. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu's service period has also been unanimously extended.
The title of Field Marshal is the highest rank in Pakistan's armed forces. General Asim Munir has become the second Field Marshal in the nation's history; the first being Ayub Khan, who served from 1959 to 1967.
Pakistan persists in its propaganda warfare. Shehbaz's government made this decision to falsely communicate that Army Chief Munir steered Pakistan to victory, prompting his promotion. The reality remains that India struck decisively wherever desired, and Pakistan could not counteract effectively.
Asim Munir's Response to Being Made Field Marshal:
Following his promotion to Field Marshal by the Shehbaz government, Asim Munir issued an official statement expressing gratitude: 'I thank Allah for the honor of the Field Marshal title. I dedicate this privilege to the nation, the armed forces, civilians, martyrs, and veterans. I am thankful to the President, Prime Minister, and Cabinet of Pakistan for their confidence in me.'
Who is Asim Munir?
Asim Munir has served as Pakistan's Army Chief since 2022, being the 11th to hold the position. Prior to this, he was the Quartermaster General at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
Munir embarked on his military journey in 1986 and has now ascended to Field Marshal status in 2025. His accolades include the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, and Sword of Honor (Pakistan).
