In a sorrowful turn of events in Ernakulam, Kerala, a police inspector, accused of assaulting a woman doctor, has been found deceased, believed to have taken his own life. The man had been embroiled in legal turmoil, his bail plea being recently declined by the court, leading to extreme measures mere hours later. His body has been sent for autopsy as the investigation unfolds.
According to reports, the doctor, having returned from abroad in 2019, had approached the Malayinkeezhu police station seeking help to vacate a property. Inspector Saju, assigned to the station, promptly facilitated her request, which seemingly initiated a close association between the two.
Allegations suggest that Inspector Saju, leveraging a false marriage proposal, started an exploitative physical relationship with the doctor, leading to her husband abandoning their home. As their interactions increased, the inspector allegedly continued the exploitation and extorted money from her before abandoning the victim for another woman.
Intimidated, the traumatized doctor finally lodged a complaint with the police superintendent's office in 2021, which led to the registration of a case against Inspector Saju and the commencement of an inquiry. Despite his denials, the public shame surrounding these allegations overwhelmed him, culminating in his suicide.
Police reports state that Saju was found hanging within the Ernakulam Central Police Station jurisdiction, at Ambdekar Stadium, shortly after the Kerala High Court dismissed his bail appeal. Following the crime branch's investigation into the accusations, he had been suspended, a situation that reportedly distressed him deeply.
