Reliance Jio has announced new plans for its OTT platform JioCinema, introducing ad-free premium options. The brand launched plans priced at ₹29 and ₹89, promising users an ad-free experience with movies and web series.
However, user complaints suggest that JioCinema's ad-free plan isn't completely free of ads. The company may not have been transparent about this. Premium subscribers are still encountering banner ads on the platform.
JioCinema
assured at the launch of the new plans that ads would not interrupt movies, TV shows, web series, and other regular content for premium users. They clarified, however, that ads will still appear on sports and live TV streams.
However, the company didn't reveal that only video ads would be removed under ad-free plans. According to JioCinema's Help page, live content will still feature ads, and while video ads are eliminated, banner ads will remain visible.

These ads will primarily be displayed on the JioCinema main page and occasionally other sections. A user named Gaurav Rathod expressed his disappointment on social media, stating that ads are still omnipresent despite his subscription purchases.

He criticized the ad-free plans as misleading, arguing that the platform did not provide this information at the time of subscription. Although Jio mentions this on their help page, it would have been more useful to inform on the subscription page itself.
Jio has launched two plans at ₹29 and ₹89, both with a 30-day validity. The company already offers a ₹999 plan that includes one-year access. Importantly, the prices of these plans may increase after the special offers end, potentially rising to ₹59 and ₹149.
