A video captures the scene where Bishnu Prasad is caught in an alleyway, cornered by protesters who then chase him down. As tensions escalate, one demonstrator kicks him to the ground, and others begin to seize him.
Bishnu Prasad Poudel also serves as Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister.
A prominent figure in Nepali politics, Bishnu Prasad Poudel has a storied career backed by contributions to economic reforms. At 18, he left teaching to join the communist cause, serving multiple terms as Finance Minister, and also holding the post of Defense Minister. He has been a vice president of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML).
Meanwhile, in a dramatic turn of events, Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned following discussions with the Army Chief Ashok Sigdel. Encouraged by Army Chief Sigdel, Oli stepped down from his position as tensions in the government rise.
Protesters have set the parliament building ablaze. They stormed the premises and engaged in widespread vandalism and arson. Flames and thick smoke now engulf the parliamentary grounds. Demonstrators have also ignited fires at several ministers' homes, and there's reports of them occupying Singha Durbar.
