In Maharashtra politics, Saturday witnessed an extraordinary event not seen in years. Cousins Supriya Sule and Ajit Pawar shared the stage, marking a strategic milestone in local politics. As Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad prepare for municipal elections, NCP (SP) and NCP have jointly presented a united manifesto at a press conference. The manifesto focuses on key issues with special attention.
Supriya Sule highlighted the problem of the active water tanker mafia in Pune and Mumbai, explaining how the illegal tanker business has exacerbated public hardships amid water shortages. She emphasized the need to control this mafia to prevent people from facing harassment for basic water services.
This united manifesto also proposes solutions for the city's traffic woes, pledging the addition of 33 missing road links in Pune, which will enhance the road network and relieve traffic congestion. Provisions to widen roads and improve traffic flow are also included.
To promote public transport, the manifesto includes plans for free bus and metro rides, a significant step towards reducing reliance on private vehicles and pollution. There's also a promise to provide accessible healthcare by ensuring hospitals are available within a two-kilometer radius for every citizen.

To promote environmental conservation, the manifesto includes plans to offer a 20 percent property tax reduction and 'Green Society' certification to housing societies. The press conference clarified that there are currently no discussions regarding the merger of the two parties.
Responding to Rashmi Shukla's report, Supriya Sule stated that during the tenure of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, no such unlawful activity took place. It was our government, but I do not believe there was any attempt to entrap Devendra Fadnavis.
Overall, this manifesto endeavors to provide self-sustaining and long-lasting solutions in crucial areas like urban development, water management, traffic, healthcare, and environment. The joint presence of Supriya Sule and Ajit Pawar underscores the strength and electoral advantage of this alliance.
