A tragic incident of suicide has been reported from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Nagpur, Maharashtra. A 22-year-old intern doctor, Sanket Panditrao Dabhade, has ended his life by hanging in the hostel bathroom. His body was found hanging on Sunday afternoon, causing a stir throughout the campus.

A police officer mentioned that Sanket Dabhade was originally from Jintur in Parbhani district. He had recently completed his MBBS and was currently interning at AIIMS. His friends last saw him on Saturday night, but suspicion arose when he did not emerge from his hostel room on Sunday morning.

The hostel warden was notified, and upon unlocking the room, Sanket's body was found hanging from the bathroom door. The police were immediately informed. Police from the Sonegaon station stated that no suicide note was found at the scene, but the deceased doctor's mobile phone has been seized for investigation.

Why has the phone been seized?

The mobile phone's call details, chats, and digital records will help discern his mental state and potential reasons. A case of accidental death has been registered, and the post-mortem report is awaited. This incident has deeply shocked the medical students and doctors across the campus, creating a somber atmosphere.

Neurosurgeon Suicide at Trauma Center

It should be noted that last year in August, a Delhi AIIMS neurosurgeon, Dr. Raj Ghonia, also committed suicide. The 34-year-old Dr. Ghonia, originally from Rajkot, was serving as an SR neurosurgeon at the AIIMS Trauma Center. Police investigations revealed tensions with his wife in that incident.

What did the doctor write in his suicide note?

On the day of the incident, his wife was visiting her family for Raksha Bandhan. During her absence, the doctor allegedly took an overdose of medication to end his life. A suicide note was found in his room, which clearly stated that he had made the choice independently and that no one should be blamed.
