A tragic stampede during a satsang in Hathras on July 2nd resulted in 121 deaths and over 30 injuries. The man at the center of this calamity is Surajpal, a self-proclaimed mystic who had formerly served in the police force. His sudden foray into spirituality led him to adopt the name Narayan Sakar Hari and his followers affectionately refer to him as Bhole Baba.
Contrary to having a modest beginning, Bhole Baba boasts 24 ashrams. His movable and immovable assets exceed a whopping 100 crores. With a convoy of 25 to 30 vehicles, one wonders how he managed to establish numerous opulent ashrmas without accepting a single penny from his disciples. Let's delve into the mystery of Narayan Sakar Hari aka Bhole Baba's financing...
In the village of Bichuwa in Mainpuri, Bhole Baba's expansive ashram spans 21 Bighas, a gift of land from Vinod Babu Anand of Mainpuri. With the land secured, devotees gathered funds for a palatial residence on the property. A total of 199 individuals generously contributed amounts ranging from ten thousand to 2.51 lakhs. All these contributors are part of Baba's Mainpuri district service committee.

The names of all those who donated are proudly showcased at the entrance of the ashram. The list heralds Vinod Babu Anand for his substantial land donation followed by cash contributors. The collective sums total over 88 lakhs, raised by just 200 individuals.

There might be countless other devotees who have donated from ₹1000 to ₹10,000 who aren't listed. Bhole Baba has formed distinct committees in each district to ensure the construction of ashrmas, conveying to his poorer followers that he requires no donations from them. They are unaware of how he amasses his funds. Recently, Devprakash Madhukar, the prime suspect in the Hathras stampede, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police in Delhi.
Suspicions arise concerning political parties funding Baba's events
Madhukar claimed to be the main organizer and fundraiser for the July 2nd 'satsang'. There's a suspicion that a political party finances Narayan Sakar Hari's events. The police, noting political parties recently approached Madhukar, will investigate potential political connections and financial transactions, vowing strict action against any implicated parties.
Hathras Superintendent of Police Nipun Aggarwal revealed, 'Devprakash Madhukar, being the main organizer, obtained permissions for the event. His roles as organizer and fundraiser are prominent. An FIR lodged after the stampede lists Madhukar as the sole accused, and it has been discovered that some political entities had engaged with him. A thorough examination of funding is underway to uncover any political backings.'
'An extensive probe is focusing on all Madhukar's bank accounts, properties, and money trails, enlisting other agencies as needed. Preliminary findings imply political party involvement in his activities. Inquiries regarding whether the police will interrogate Narayan Sakar Hari aka Bhole Baba will be determined by the ongoing investigation,' says Hathras SP Nipun Aggarwal.
