The renowned Mata Tekri Temple in Dewas city, Madhya Pradesh, became the scene of an unsettling incident late Friday night when a group forcibly entered and assaulted the temple priest. This occurred post the temple's closure for the night, with police providing details on Saturday.
Assault on the Priest
The Congress party claims that among the attackers was a BJP MLA's son, an assertion yet to be confirmed by law enforcement. In the complaint filed at the Kotwali station, priest Jitu Raghuvanshi, who has a prior criminal record, is noted to have arrived with an entourage of 8 to 10 cars late at night.
Upon demanding the gates be opened, and facing refusal, the group allegedly resorted to abusive language and physical assault. This information was provided by City Superintendent of Police Dinesh Agrawal. FIRs against the culprits have been filed, and approximately 50 CCTV footage are under scrutiny.
Visuals Capture Red-Beacon Vehicles
When inquired by the media about the possible involvement of a BJP leader's child, CSP Agrawal mentioned that investigations are ongoing. Some social media videos showing red-beaconed vehicles reaching the hill below the temple have gone viral.
Dewas City Congress President Manoj Rajani stated, 'A particular BJP legislator should keep a check on his son, who claims to uphold traditional values yet commits such acts.'
