Mother Attempts Suicide with Two Children, Son Escapes, Daughter and Mother Leap into Well

In the somber shadows of Chandrapur, Maharashtra, a heart-wrenching incident has come to light. A woman, engulfed by the depths of despair, clasped her daughter to her bosom and took a plunge into a well, ending both their lives. Upon reaching the well, the woman's son, in a moment of desperation, managed to tear his hand away, sparing his life from the grim fate that awaited. The police were promptly notified of the incident and arrived to thoroughly investigate the matter.

According to reports, the harrowing event took place in Khedi village of Savali tehsil in Chandrapur district. Darshana Deepak Petkar, a 35-year-old woman, along with her 14-year-old daughter, reached a well in the fields. Her 11-year-old son was with them, but upon nearing the well, he broke away from his mother's grip and fled to safety.

The young boy, brimming with fear, raced back to the village, gathering the villagers to return to the well. By the time they reached the scene, it was too late. His mother and sister had both drowned in the well. The villagers informed the police, who swiftly arrived and retrieved the bodies for postmortem examination.

What did the police say about the incident?

In light of the incident, Jivan Rajguru, the station head at Savali police station, disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed the woman, Darshana, was suffering from a kidney ailment. Driven to desperation by her illness, she decided to end her life. However, the motive behind involving her children in the suicide remains unclear. The investigation continues.
