MCD Passes 16 Thousand Crore Budget Amidst Chaos, Mayor Shaili Oberoi Announces Multiple Initiatives

On Thursday, the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) approved a budget of 16,683 crore rupees for the fiscal year 2024-25 without a vote. The MCD ratified the budget estimates for 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Intense commotion marked the budget presentation at the MCD meeting, which saw the formalities of approval swiftly completed in just five minutes. AAP councilors strategically surrounded BJP councilors, impeding their access to the Mayor.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, the house sanctioned a total revenue of 15,686.99 crore rupees against an expenditure of 16,683.01 crore rupees. The budget was passed in the absence of the MCD Commissioner, who was to present the budget, followed by the voting.

On the occasion of the budget's passage, Delhi's Mayor Shaili Oberoi expressed her congratulations to the people, traders, and workers of Delhi, stating that the 16 thousand crore budget has been passed. She pledged to fulfill every promise made by Kejriwal to the citizens of Delhi.

She announced that a budget of one thousand crores would be allocated for road maintenance. Additionally, a separate budget was reserved for the APP 311. She allocated 15 crores for the maintenance of cow shelters and stated there would be well-funded plans for door-to-door services.
