The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has conducted a significant Imam conference in Kolkata regarding Wakf laws. This conference saw the participation of leaders from the Muslim community across the state. Apart from several critical issues, the CM strongly criticized the support of Naidu-Nitish for the law and called for unity and resistance within the India alliance.

During a protest in Murshidabad, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she will not implement the revised Wakf laws in the state. She appealed to the central government for a change. She addressed several issues at the conference, raising questions about Naidu-Nitish's approach and the way the law has been amended.

"They Can Sacrifice You for Power"

Mamata Banerjee remarked, "Look at Chandrababu Naidu, he is silent, Nitish Babu is silent. You all vote for them, but they can sacrifice all of you for power. You vote for Nitish, but he fully supports the BJP. What does he get from this - a bit of power." Mamata Banerjee expressed that in the pursuit of giving you power, we can offer our hearts and even our blood, but what have Naidu-Nitish done?

A Vital Question by Mamata Banerjee...

If the central government wanted to change the Wakf Board, why didn't they do it with a two-thirds majority, Mamata questions. Her concern is regarding the necessity of bringing a bill for amendment and why it wasn't conducted under constitutional amendment. She asserts that this amendment should indeed occur with a two-thirds majority rather than a simple majority.

Mamata Banerjee stated that the central government didn't opt for this since it requires a two-thirds majority, which the current BJP government does not possess. She said, "You (central government) made amendments to the Wakf, but not a constitutional amendment which was required."

Why Did Mamata Criticize Naidu and Nitish?

Mamata Banerjee criticized Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar's CM Nitish Kumar because, despite the BJP not achieving a majority in the latest Lok Sabha elections, they hold power at the center with their (Naidu-Nitish's) support.

Nevertheless, both Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar receive considerable votes from the Muslim community. Their parties have several Muslim leaders and legislators, and despite securing Muslim votes in their states, they align with the BJP at the center, backing such laws.

Mamata Banerjee blamed the BJP for the Murshidabad violence and urged the Muslim community to act wisely.
