On Friday evening, Indian security forces initiated 'Operation Akhal' in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam to search for terrorists, and the operation is still ongoing. This mission was launched following intelligence on the presence of hidden terrorists in the area. During the operation, a fierce gunfight erupted, resulting in the army successfully neutralizing two terrorists. The army remains cautious, as it suspects that 2 to 3 terrorists may still be hiding in the vicinity. This information was confirmed by the Indian Army's Chinar Corps.
The Chinar Corps informed that a joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated this operation based on a specific intelligence input on the terrorists' presence in the southern Kashmir jungle area. During the operation, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the forces, prompting them to retaliate effectively, neutralizing another terrorist. Prior to this, Chinar Corps reported that the army had taken down one terrorist in the morning.
The army believes that 2 to 3 terrorists, possibly including those from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), might still be trapped in this region. The security personnel have intensified the area's cordon, dispatching additional forces to the site, given the terrorists' sporadic and intense firing throughout the night. The operation continues.
