Following the tremendous victory of the grand alliance in Maharashtra's assembly elections, speculation around the chief minister's name remains. Meanwhile, the chief whip of the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) claims there is turmoil within the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, and several lawmakers might switch sides in the next four months.
NCP Chief Whip Anil Patil indicated persistent instability within the MVA, suggesting that up to five-six legislators might join the rival grand alliance soon.
According to Patil, legislators from NCP (Sharad Pawar), Congress, and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) are uncertain post-elections. Those with strong ties to us have expressed concerns about the MVA's defeat. Legislators seeking development in their constituencies may find staying with the ruling side beneficial.
It's noteworthy that the MVA, including Congress, Sharad Pawar's NCP, and Uddhav Thackeray's faction, suffered a significant setback, managing only 46 seats in a 288-member assembly. Conversely, the BJP-led grand alliance, featuring BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP, succeeded with 230 seats.
