The grand alliance commanded a clear majority in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. With 133 seats, the BJP emerged as the largest party. Shiv Sena secured 53 seats while NCP managed 41. When asked whether the Chief Minister would be from the BJP, given its substantial victory, BJP's National General Secretary Vinod Tawde stated that the central leadership would confer with Maharashtra's top leaders to arrive at this decision.
Regarding who would be their chief minister, Tawde emphasized that the resolution lies with the central leadership. 'The head of the government, whether Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, or Ajit Pawar, will be determined by tonight or by tomorrow afternoon by central leadership,' he stated confidently.
'I believe in facts, not speculation'
Tawde remarked, 'The entire analysis and decision will conclude post the central leadership meeting. I place my trust in facts, not speculation. The fact of the matter is, the final decision will be conceptualized in unity with leadership at the center. This mandate favors BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, representing the alliance.'
'Formation of the new government on the 26th'
Tawde shared, 'According to the constitution, a new government should be established by the 26th, that's certain. Today, all central leaders will gather at the BJP headquarters to celebrate the victory. Discussions regarding the parliamentary board meeting will also occur.'
He noted, 'I expect that before tonight or by tomorrow, a national president will confer with Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar. An observer should arrive here on the 24th or 25th.'
