In the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, the Mahayuti claimed a sweeping majority, yet suspense lingers over the Chief Minister's name. The search for the new CM involves ongoing meetings, with political corridors abuzz over who will take the oath as the state's new leader.
Although Devendra Fadnavis is perceived as the frontrunner for the CM role, whispers suggest that BJP might spring a surprise akin to its moves in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Amidst this, social media has been increasingly mentioning the name of Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Muralidhar Mohol, as a possible candidate. Seeing the speculation grow, Mohol stepped forward with a clarification.

Mohol Offers Clarification
Mohol stated, 'The discussion of my name for Maharashtra's Chief Minister position circulating on social media is baseless and fictional. We competed as the Bharatiya Janata Party, under the esteemed leadership of Devendra Ji. The people of Maharashtra have given us an historic majority.'
He elaborated that, 'In our Bharatiya Janata Party, party discipline and decisions hold the utmost importance. Such decisions are made with consensus within the parliamentary board, not driven by social media discussions! Once a decision is made by the parliamentary board, it becomes paramount for us. Hence, the social media discussion of my name is futile.'
Elected with a massive mandate from the Pune Lok Sabha constituency, Muralidhar Mohol became an MP for the first time. Following his nomination, Prime Minister Modi held a campaign rally for Mohol. After defeating opposition candidate Dhangekar convincingly, Mohol stepped into parliament and was later given a chance in the Union Cabinet.
