Political turbulence has erupted in Madhya Pradesh over a controversial statement by Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah. In response to the demands for Shah’s resignation, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has for the first time reacted, countering Congress by suggesting they first seek the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
During the Tiranga Yatra in Bhopal, CM Mohan Yadav stated, "The judiciary's orders have been followed by our government appropriately, and we will proceed according to the court's instructions."
Referring to the Madhya Pradesh High Court's suo motu cognizance and FIR order against Vijay Shah, he emphasized that the government has complied with the court's directives.
Meanwhile, the Congress party is adamant about staging protests demanding Minister Vijay Shah's resignation. Reacting sharply, CM Yadav remarked, "Congress will continue, but they should ask for Siddaramaiah's resignation first. Currently, cases are ongoing against all Congress ministers. We remember their behavior during the elections when stepping in line with Kejriwal – he ended up in jail during his tenure as Chief Minister. Where was Congress then? They have no right to speak now. No party has ever surpassed Congress in shamelessness."
Indeed, Vijay Shah made an objectionable remark about Colonel Sophia Quraishi during an event in Mhow, Indore district, prompting the Congress to launch a campaign against him and intensify calls for his resignation. The Madhya Pradesh High Court, recognizing the seriousness of the issue, ordered an FIR against Shah, leading to a case being filed against him in Indore.
In defense of his statement, Vijay Shah expressed readiness to apologize ten times if his words hurt anyone. He further stated that he respects Colonel Sophia Quraishi more than his sister.
