CCTV in Slums, 55 Suspects on the Run... Documents Missing During Investigation, Illegal Bangladeshi Nexus Uncovered in Lucknow

A major nexus was uncovered during an operation against suspicious Bangladeshis residing illegally in Lucknow. 55 people who initially failed to present valid NRC documents have gone missing. Slums were equipped with CCTV, electricity meters, and water supply.

A significant nexus of suspicious Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in Lucknow's slums has been exposed. The police and administration's probe in the unauthorized settlements of the Chinhat area has caused a stir. Recently, when the police team arrived for a follow-up investigation, 55 residents were found missing. These individuals previously failed to present documents linked to the NRC during the earlier investigation.

According to the police, suspicious activities have been long underway in the illegally settled slums amidst debris piles in Chinhat. The investigation uncovered expensive CCTV cameras monitoring the entire settlement. Electric wires laid throughout the slums and prepaid meters installed at several locations were noted. There was a regular water supply arranged through bore-welling as well.

Former DGP Surya Kumar has prepared a detailed report against Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in the area. He reached the site personally with the police.

Aaj Tak conversed with the people present at the scene. They discovered large piles of debris. The former DGP commented it is a substantial nexus with a multimillion operation utilizing illegal Bangladeshi residents. Moreover, CCTV cameras and electric wires were seen amidst the garbage settlements and slums.

As we ventured further, Aaj Tak found visible water supply through bore-wellings and prepaid electric meters in the illegal settlement. Questions also arise about why such infrastructures were installed here despite these being illegal settlements.

Chinhat’s station in-charge, Mohit Kumar, stated that on our previous visit, some individuals displayed NRC documents with Assam IDs, while others could not. Of those who failed to present documents, 55 have now fled. The entire case is under investigation, and further actions will proceed per senior officials' directives.
