Bihar Shock: XUV Car Used for Cannabis Trafficking, Trio Arrested

In a surprising turn during a check in Katihar, a couple along with an accomplice were found trafficking cannabis via XUV 500. Approximately 44 kilos were seized.

With national elections on the horizon, police forces across the country are on high alert. In a significant bust in Bihar's Katihar, police seized a substantial amount of cannabis during a checkpoint inspection. Reports suggest that a couple was using an XUV 500 car for the smuggling operation. About 44 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from the vehicle during the search.

The police apprehended all three suspects traveling in the car. Upon questioning, they revealed that the cannabis originated from Tripura and was obtained in Malda, West Bengal, via Siliguri. It was then being transported through Katihar to Patna.

Cannabis Smuggling Operation Leads to Three Arrests

The accused informed the police that they were a couple and had plotted this trafficking scheme together. Along with them was their 4-year-old daughter. The suspects were identified as Sonam Kumari alias Shivani (26), Anuj Kumar (25), and Manish (26). The value of the 44 kilograms of cannabis is estimated to be around 22 lakh rupees.

It is reported that police had received a tip-off beforehand. Subsequently, the Katihar police initiated the vehicle inspections. During this process, they spotted a car attempting a getaway upon noticing the checkpoint. Police grew suspicious and managed to stop the car. The search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the cannabis stash hidden under the seats. The car was seized by the police.

Seized Cannabis Valued at 22 Lakh Rupees

Regarding the case, the local authorities reported that the cannabis seized is valued at 22 lakh rupees. All three suspects have been apprehended, and a thorough investigation is underway. Additional arrests related to this case may be forthcoming.
