The current budget session in Parliament seems to be escalating into turmoil. After two days of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi fixating on the Narwane memoir, the presiding authority shifted focus to other speakers. Today, the discussion on the motion of thanks for the President’s address began amidst chaos. Despite disruptions, TDP MP GM Harih Balayogi completed his speech, but when the next speaker, Nishikant Dubey, began, the uproar forced the suspension of proceedings until 5 PM.

In fact, Nishikant Dubey entered the house with several books, displaying them one by one while dishing out references. He stated that for the past three days, discussions centered around an unpublished book. 'Today, I also bring books,' Dubey declared. He accused these publications of exposing the Nehru and Congress families filled with deceit, betrayal, corruption, and indulgence.

Dubey presented book after book. 'The first book is 'Edwina and Nehru,' revealing how India’s first Prime Minister was involved in debauchery post-independence,' he said. He continued with another book by Mathai Sahab, former PA to Prime Minister Nehru, detailing personal relations with Indira Gandhi and subsequent dismissal due to corruption charges.

The opposition's uproar intensified. Presiding officer Krishna Prasad Tenneti intervened, citing Rule 349, declaring Dubey could not proceed this way. Despite the Speaker's injunction, Dubey persisted, citing Sanjaya Baru’s book detailing Sonia Gandhi’s alleged corrupt governance.

Dubey further invoked a book on Indira Gandhi, discussing her ties with Dhirendra Brahmachari and defense dealers. Holding another book aloft, he alleged Nehru surrendered to China. He alluded to the emergency, the Bofors scandal, and declared 'The Accidental Prime Minister' book unveiled sidelined ideals.

Opposition Members Threw Papers at the Chair

During Dubey’s speech, opposition members flung papers at the chair. Observing disorder, presiding officer Krishna Prasad Tenneti postponed proceedings until 5 PM. Post adjournment, some opposition members met the Speaker in his chamber, objecting to Rahul Gandhi's restriction and Dubey's permission.

Fierce Debate in Speaker’s Chamber

A heated argument erupted between opposition and ruling party MPs in Speaker Om Birla’s cabin. Despite efforts for reconciliation by Speaker Om Birla, the deadlock persisted. When the Lok Sabha reconvened at 5 PM, under presiding officer Sandhya Roy, as PP Chaudhary commenced discussion, opposition members charged towards the well, brandishing posters. In response, proceedings were adjourned for the day.

Kharge Raises Issue in Rajya Sabha

The matter of Nishikant Dubey showcasing books in the Lok Sabha spilled into the Rajya Sabha. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge referenced the contributions of leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, criticizing the derogatory remarks in the other house. Leader of the House, JP Nadda objected, asserting that discussions from one house cannot be raised in another. Following this, Congress staged a walkout.
