Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has threatened the life of Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav. In response, Yadav has lodged a complaint with the Bihar police and has informed the Union Home Ministry through a letter, seeking an upgrade to 'Z' category security. According to Pappu, he is currently provided with 'Y' category security, but the continuous threats pose a significant risk to his life. If security isn't enhanced, there is an imminent threat to his life.

Pappu Yadav further expressed, if the threats from the Lawrence gang materialize and result in his death, the government would be responsible. He is also demanding police escort in every district and stringent security at event venues.

'Government appears passive towards security concerns'

Pappu mentioned that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been actively carrying out crimes across the country. As a political figure, he opposed the gang, prompting threats on his life from the gang leader via mobile. However, the government seems passive towards his security concerns, appearing ready to only react posthumously with condolences in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. He added in the letter that his family and he have been attacked previously, including assaults by Nepalese Maoist groups and various caste-based criminals, but he survived by sheer luck.

'Criminals exploiting security gaps'

Pappu shared that when Nepal's Maoist group threatened him via cell phone, the Union Home Ministry put him under Y Plus (threat) security coverage in 2015. However, this was downgraded to 'Y' category in 2019. During the Lok Sabha elections, astute murderers took advantage of reduced security, resorting to threats and abuses on social media platforms like Facebook and directly threatening him at home. These issues were reported to the government in writing but were overlooked.

'Warning to stay away from Salman issue'

Purnia MP Pappu Yadav highlighted that he received a phone threat, advising him to steer clear of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's issue. He has reported this matter to the DGP of Bihar. According to Pappu, the caller claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi is eagerly attempting to communicate with him from jail but has failed so far. Reports suggest that Bishnoi is offering up to a lakh rupees to have the prison jammer deactivated for an hour, but has yet to establish contact with Pappu.
