Stepping into the smartwatch market, Lava has launched two watches, the Lava Prowatch ZN and ProWatch VN. With its foray into the wearable market, this Indian brand now competes with both Chinese and Indian brands. We have been using the Lava Prowatch ZN for a few days.

This watch comes with an attractive design and great features, priced competitively. It sports a circular dial. Let's see how this watch performs in real life.

The Lava Prowatch ZN is launched as a sturdy watch, featuring Gorilla Glass protection. The device comes with a circular dial and a silicone strap that feels like plastic—quite hard, and it could have been softer.

It has two functional crowns, one of which is a rotating crown. The Lava Prowatch ZN features a 1.43-inch always-on AMOLED display supporting a 60Hz refresh rate with peak brightness of 600 nits.

Visibility in sunlight is good, thanks to Gorilla Glass 3 protection. However, the display has noticeable bezels, though the touch response is excellent and colors appear vibrant. Overall, the brand has done a good job with the design and display.

The Lava Prowatch ZN includes step counting, heart rate monitoring, SpO2, and other features, along with over 110 sports modes. After several days of use, we've noticed the step count occasionally misses steps, and the watch doesn’t automatically switch between sports or workout modes.

In simple terms, if you start running while walking, the watch counts it as a single activity. To count them separately, you need to manually switch to running mode, affecting calorie count accuracy.

The Lava Prowatch ZN offers Bluetooth voice calling, AI voice assistant, quick reply, and in-built games. Yes, you can even play games on this watch, which can be a great time-pass. Bluetooth calling works well.

It also includes music control, stopwatch, timer, and many other features. The battery life surprised us; a single charge lasts more than a week. However, always-on display mode can reduce battery life slightly.

Lava has done good work with the Prowatch ZN. As this is the brand's first device in this segment, some shortcomings are expected. For instance, step counting and other tracking features, as well as the app UI, could be improved. Considering its budget-friendly price, major complaints are unwarranted.
