According to reports, a dispute broke out between Bar Association President Avdhesh Singh and Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma regarding the Urban Cooperative Bank elections. Both parties faced off, and an infuriated Avdhesh Singh daringly slapped MLA Yogesh Verma in the presence of policemen. Following this, other lawyers surrounded and assaulted the MLA.

During the scuffle, when the MLA and his supporters attempted to approach the Bar Association President, police intervened and separated both factions with great difficulty. The atmosphere became highly tense, and significant disturbances ensued in front of the city’s Urban Cooperative Bank.

Speaking to 'Aaj Tak' after the incident, MLA Yogesh Verma stated that chaos erupted during the Urban Cooperative Bank elections when BJP workers came to collect nomination forms. Hostilities erupted, initially involving Business Confederation leader Raju Agrawal, whose form was torn. When Verma came to check on Agrawal, lawyer Avdhesh Singh assaulted him as well.
