The Madani Mosque, erected about 25 years ago in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district, is becoming the center of a heated controversy. Positioned within the boundaries of Hata Municipality, claims abound that it was erected on encroached land. In response, a formal complaint was lodged with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, prompting the district administration to commence a land survey of the mosque premises.

According to Hindu leader and complainant Rambachan Singh, the mosque allegedly stands on land encroached from police chawkis, municipal property, and Nazul land. In contrast, the mosque's Muslim representatives staunchly maintain that the mosque is lawfully built on 32 decimal land, legally purchased for this religious edifice.

The Muslim representatives presented authentic land documents before the district authorities. To ensure peace and order during the survey, police management has mobilized substantial forces, orchestrated under the guidance of two area officers, deploying teams from several police stations.

The survey is now underway as per instructions by Kushinagar District Magistrate on Wednesday, led by SDM Hata. During this operation, significant police presence accompanied the lead officers, and Muslim parties brought forth their legitimate land records. The surveying activities are set to continue until a definitive conclusion is reached.

The Muslim faction asserts that the 32 decimal plot was rightfully purchased from Hindu brothers. A mosque was constructed upon 30 decimals, leaving 2 decimals unutilized, with no part of the land being contentious.

Conversely, complainant Rambachan Singh insists that since the mosque's inception in 1993, he has been fighting to prevent illegal occupation of land. Numerous petitions have prompted surveys, yet no further actions ensued previously. It was only after presenting the matter to the current Chief Minister that serious measures are underway. The completion of the survey will soon reveal the extent of encroachment involved.
