Mysterious Drones Seen in Kolkata's Night Sky! Central Government Seeks Report from State

Several drone-like objects were spotted in Kolkata's night sky, prompting a detailed police investigation, including espionage possibilities.

There's a buzz in Kolkata as 8-10 suspicious drones swirled above key areas like Hastings, Vidyasagar Setu, Fort William, and Park Circus last Monday night.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Kolkata Police's Special Task Force (STF) and the Detective Department have sprung into action. Every aspect of the case, including espionage, is under scrutiny.

An officer from the police stated, "These drone-like objects were first spotted by personnel at the Hastings police station. They appeared to approach from the direction of Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas. These drones hovered over sensitive places like the Hastings area, Second Hooghly Bridge (Vidyasagar Setu), and Fort William, the Eastern Command headquarters of the Indian Army."

Sudden Disappearance

The security personnel stationed at Hastings were the first to notice these suspicious drones, which seemed to come from Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas. They were also sighted above Fort William, headquarters of the Indian Army's Eastern Command. Subsequently, they appeared in the Park Circus area before vanishing.

The police officer indicated, “We are examining every angle, including the possibility of espionage, which cannot be ruled out.”

Defense Ministry Statement

A senior state administration official noted that the central government has also requested a report on the incident. The Defense Ministry has issued a statement. The Eastern Command mentioned, "We've received some information from the media about drone activity in the sky. We are verifying the information's accuracy and will respond shortly. Please avoid speculation and await the official statement. This could entirely be a rumor, so please refrain from assumptions."
