On August 9, a female resident doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The 31-year-old post-graduate resident doctor on duty at the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was sexually assaulted on the night of August 8 and murdered. Officials found the semi-nude body of the second-year student in the chest medicine department’s seminar hall, bearing multiple injuries.
Post-Mortem Report Reveals Details
The post-mortem report, which was handed over to the victim's family by the police, reveals the nature of the assault before the murder and sexual penetration. It stated that the victim was strangled, and the accused strangled her twice. Her death occurred between 3 to 5 AM.
Sanjay Was Addicted to Watching Obscene Movies
The police have arrested the accused, Sanjay Roy. He was neither a hospital staff member nor related to any patient. Sanjay worked as a civic volunteer for the Kolkata police. It is said that he was addicted to watching obscene movies while drinking alcohol. On the night of the crime, he entered and exited the hospital multiple times.

When a police officer was admitted to the RG Kar Medical College, Sanjay Roy would assist by bringing medicines and providing other help. However, on the day of the incident, he did not come to the hospital for any work. He went to the hospital's back area to drink alcohol and watched explicit videos on his phone before committing the crime.
