On a Saturday night, Kolkata Police apprehended Manoj Gupta, the kingpin of a fake passport racket from Chandapara Station Road in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. According to police reports, Gupta was nabbed from a residence within the Gaighata police jurisdiction.

As per reports, a police officer informed that Manoj Gupta is a resident of the Silpara area in Behala and was running a travel agency in the Sakhere Bazaar. Under the guise of this agency, he was engaged in creating fake passports. The police suspect his involvement in issuing counterfeit visas as well.

With information obtained from previously arrested individuals in relation to this case, the police executed the operation. Manoj Gupta is reportedly the mastermind behind this racket, deeply entrenched in this occupation for a long time. Earlier this month, a postal department employee from the Parnasree area was also apprehended by Kolkata Police. In addition, two more individuals were arrested from the North and South 24 Parganas districts.

Police have uncovered a trove of fake documents, hard disks, a computer, and a laptop, which were instrumental in producing the counterfeit passports. During a raid in a Haridevpur residence, a large cache of fake documents was seized. Police revealed that this racket was primarily providing Bangladeshis with fake identity cards and passports, enabling them to illegally reside in India and travel globally.

The Kolkata police have initiated a search for other members involved in this racket. According to police authorities, everyone associated with this network will be apprehended soon.
