Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arriving in Srinagar on Thursday, makes his first visit to Kashmir since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019. Crowds have flocked to Bakshi Stadium in anticipation of his speech.
A local woman at the event shared her transformative experiences following the removal of Article 370. She revealed, 'As Modi's fan, I've witnessed him initiate such unprecedented developmental measures in our Kashmir, fostering progress where once it lagged behind.'
'Weddings Once Dictated by the Barrel of a Gun'
She recounted the harrowing time she grew up in, saying, 'Born in 1993, I've seen scenes here that no one should witness. Where daughters were married off at gunpoint, and young girls became widows too early. Youths would leave home but return as corpses. Our graveyards were full. Now, following the repeal of Article 370, conditions have improved.'
The woman praised Modi's numerous contributions to the nation, noting, 'Our children, once confined and depressed, now step out and play without fear.'
'I Have Seen Terrorism Up Close'
With personal experience of terrorism, she added, 'Our lands were forcibly taken. There was fear, now gone. I do not want my children to endure the terrorism I faced. Hence, I admire Modi Ji; his presence symbolizes security.'
It is well-known that Pakistan has been involved with constant infiltration and terrorism in Kashmir, providing constant backing to cross-border terrorist activities.
Why is PM Modi's Visit to Srinagar Significant?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first rally in Srinagar post-Article 370 abrogation claims to be Kashmir's largest ever, expecting participation from over 200,000 people. Strict security measures have been enforced around Bakshi Stadium. Modi is set to inaugurate developmental projects worth 6,400 crore INR amidst tightened security, with streets sealed and barricades placed since 24 hours prior. Such a massive public assembly is unprecedented in recent Kashmir history.
